Kate Wynne-Eyton

my story so far

My story spans the UK and USA.

I studied art at Wrexham College of Art, UK, and then Louisiana State University, USA, graduating in 1993. I sold paintings at a number of exhibitions in Baton Rouge, USA around that time, and later in the UK.

Earning a living and family life then overtook as my priority for a while, until a confluence of events heightened my sense of the preciousness and sacredness of life.  I began to reconnect with my spirituality through meditation, and my creative impulse was re-ignited.  It became irrepressible, and I picked up where I had left off all those years before, and have been creating art ever since, putting in the time to develop my craft and find my voice.

The ideas and themes of the earth art I have created in my own garden are particularly important as the ongoing inspiration for a series of paintings and written reflections; for example, Earth Mother and the Pond were created partially in response to my relationship with St Dyfnog’s Well, a sacred site in North Wales and The Mound is linked to the landscapes of my past and present.

I now actively seek to work with other environmentally conscious artists on larger scale land art projects, for the benefit of communities, supported by charitable and public funding where available.

I also share my paintings, by loaning them on a medium-term basis to schools, Christian centres and other public institutions with which I am aligned, and I love to exhibit at local events and open studios and to volunteer at workshops and demonstrations.

I would love to hear from you if you are interested in collaborating.
